Weekly Oracle Reading: January 6-12, 2014

I’m a little late getting this up tonight. I thought I’d have time earlier in the day to write it up, but things got really busy at work and I took a short lunch.

Then, when I came home after tutoring, my poor little kitty had stopped eating again. 😦 Boo.

Today’s Oracle Reading is from the Energy Oracle Deck by Sandra Anne Taylor.

This is my newest deck, and it’s so gorgeous! For a few readings, I’ve blended it seamlessly with one of Colette Baron-Reid’s.

Once again, I’m going to look at this as if it were for myself, but I’d love to hear if it relates to your life!

I’m doing a 3-card this time, but instead of Body/Mind/Spirit, I’m looking at it as Opportunities/Challenges/Outcomes.

1. Opportunities – 46. The Thinking Man – This card is supposed to represent either a mentor/teacher/guide or a possible new love interest. However, my eyes are drawn most to the crystal he’s holding, not the man. I feel this means a new path opening up – wisdom? knowledge? A new way of seeing things.

As I think about that a bit, there has been something I have started to look at in a new way – a path I’ve been walking that might need to change.

2. Obstacles – 18. Anxiety, Reversed – Anxiety is a big part of my life, constant stress – financial, social, near constant companion. While reversed, this card could imply an end to worries (or a need to worry), because it’s also in the position of Obstacles, I feel that it means that the worry/anxiety can be . . . harnessed. Like, when you get really keyed up before a big test and it helps you focus, or you really need that fight or flight reflex. So, like a double negative, no worries as an Obstacle means there may be some advantage gained by focusing the anxiety correctly.

3. Outcome – 43. Man Holding a Coin, reversed – So, sexy guy with money? Bring it on! 😛 Oh, but he’s reversed. hmmm. 😛

My initial feeling is that this could mean a drain of resources, which may be financial or may be emotional in a way that could affect finances or health. I think it’s pretty clear that in this deck “a coin” is like pentacles in the Tarot – representing the element of Earth – physicality, health and finances.

Putting it together, it appears that if I don’t figure out how to harness the anxiety, there may be a drain on my (emotional? physical?) resources – but in either case, new wisdom or a whole new path will be opened.

Does any of this relate to you? Please share below!

Weekly Oracle Reading Dec 30, 2013 – Jan 5, 2014

I’ve seen a lot of other readers do publish weekly readings and people seem to like them.

I find a couple of things odd about it, which is one reason I haven’t started doing it.

Most of these readings are 3-card readings but they are also temporal readings, meaning the three cards are supposed to represent 7 days as the beginning, middle and end of the week. Of course, 7 days don’t really break up evenly like that. Some say Card 1 is for Mon/Tues, Card 2 is for Wed/Thurs and Card 3 is for “the weekend.” I suppose that makes a kind of sense, but sometimes I find more Real Life happens on the weekend, while the week is concentrated on Work Life. So, having only 1 card represent the weekend seems a little light.

However 3-card readings can also lend themselves to other breakdowns, like Body/Mind/Spirit or Health/Work/Relationships (or Family) or other break downs.

I’m probably going to do one of those most weeks.

The other thing I find weird is that to me, readings are intensely personal, so saying that a reading is for everyone. . . strikes me as odd. I know that it’s general energy trends, not specifics, but I still find it weird. I don’t know if I can do that.

So, for now, I’m going to do the reading as if it were for me, and if I can see how it can relate to everyone, I’ll put that in.

I’m also going to ask for feedback. . . if you can see how a card or interpretation can relate to you, let me know!

Now, onto the reading. . . .

I’m using Colette Baron-Reid’s Enchanted Map deck this week.

Body:

11. Balancing Act – Reversed –

That makes total sense. Upright the card would indicate that I am in balance, reversed, I am not.

And it’s true. My own physical health has taken a backseat to many other things. I’m not active and I have not been eating well. I’m also having trouble sleeping. It looks as though this may continue.

But I think I’ve drawn the card to get me to focus on this issue, so I can use it to focus on my health. Interestingly, my eyes are drawn most to the heart-shaped flower petals, which are supposed to represent love and devotion. That being out of whack is something that has been on my mind lately, as well.

Mind:

53. Listening.

This image of the Elephant is enchanting. The elephant has large ears to hear, and there seems to be music playing, or is that the birds singing? The green is a calming and healing color.

My eyes are drawn to the elephant’s wise and knowing face. He cannot see the birds where they are perched (well, maybe the one on his tusk) but he doesn’t question where the music is coming from, he just knows.

Elephants are symbols of memory, wisdom and good fortune. They always remind me of my great-grandmother. Edith always had elephant statues and on jewelry as symbols of good luck.

It’s funny because after months of being silent on the blog, I’m just starting to write again, finding my voice, and now the guidance is to Listen.

That’s ok, though, because Listening and reflection are already on the schedule for this week. 🙂

And just the last few days, I’ve been realizing that I’ve turned back to using entertainment as distraction. I’ve been watching all these British shows on Hulu, pretty much non-stop (as I discovered a few I had never seen). I enjoy the shows, but I’m using it as a way to avoid going within, to avoid Listening to my higher self or to Spirit.

I suspect it’s because I think I’m not going to like what I hear, so I want to avoid hearing it. But it’s time. It’s time to hear what’s been trying to come through.

Spirit:

25. Metamorphosis Reversed –

The butterfly on the chrysalis is an obvious symbol here. Going through great changes.

But aren’t we always going through changes? If you aren’t changing inside, are you even alive?

Reversed, this is supposed to be a reminder that change can be painful, but worth it.

Funny, I’ve been thinking the worst is behind me. Perhaps not. Perhaps there is more spiritually difficult times on the horizon, and this is a reminder to keep the end-game in mind?

My eyes are drawn this time to the flamingos, with their necks curving into a heart shape.

Ah.

Maybe that does make sense, with some things in my personal life that have been coming to light recently, and ties back into the first card.

Yes, change can be uncomfortable. And it can hurt to give up on long-held dreams.

But, sometimes that change really is necessary.

How about you?

So, do any of these cards speak to you?

Do you see symbolism different than I’ve mentioned?

Does anything I’ve said apply to you this week? (and if you’re reading this long after this week, does it speak to you on the day you’re reading it?)

Not to get too awful salesy, but if you’d like to book a reading with this deck, you can do so here.

It’s not (really) the cards

The other day, Gwynne over at Transformational Intuition had this post about “The REAL Power in Tarot“.

It really resonated with me because she voiced some of my feelings on the issue.
There have been hundreds of divination tools over the centuries, Different societies, different times have used different tools.
Some are as simple as a candle flame or a bowl of water.
Some are as complex as the Tarot or as a crystal reading someone I know invented (very complex).
Which ones are best?
Which ones actually work?
All of them or none of them.
Why?
Because it’s not the tool. It’s the reader, and if the reader is really in touch with their intuition, almost any tool will work.
The tool is something for your conscious mind to focus on as your subconscious processes information.
That’s it.
The tool is a focal point.
The first time I read a palm, for example, I knew what the three major lines were, but my conscious mind went blank on what anything meant (despite having read several books). But as I looked as the person’s hand and allowed my mind to wander, I just talked. The person was pretty shocked at some things I said and pulled her hand away. She thought I was seeing too much.
Consciously, I didn’t really know what I was doing. My subconscious, however, had been processing stuff all along.

I have used candle flames, bonfires, a bowl of water, a black mirror, Tarot, oracle cards, runes, smoke, palms, tea leaves, candle wax . . .

While for some reason I don’t do as well with Runes as with other tools, I can use all of them/any of them, but only if I’m in the right frame of mind.
If my conscious mind is too involved, it becomes more difficult.
One thing that I’m finding interesting (and a bit difficult) about doing the written readings is that I have to be more consciously involved when doing the write ups.
In person, I just tell my conscious mind to shut up and let the other parts of me take over, to the point where I often don’t even remember what I said.
But there is more of ME involved in doing the write ups.
I’m not certain if this is a good thing or not, to be honest.
That’s one reason why I’m going to start adding videos to my readings as an optional extra (I’ll get that on the sales pages sometime this week) – so you can get the benefit of both forms of the reading.
This evening, I asked on the FB Page if anyone would be interested in a course to develop your intuition. If it’s something that you’ve never thought about or tried before but you’re interested, perhaps I could come up with something.

What direction now?

The last week has been rough for a couple/few reasons.

1. There was a heatwave for the last 7 days. I don’t do well in hot to begin with, and 105+ degrees (Fahrenheit) doesn’t help.
2. The air conditioning in my apartment is still broken. I’ve been having trouble with it for about a year and a half now. No one knows what is wrong. They’ve replaced everything except the lines. Tuesday they thought everything was fine, but it was over 85 degrees inside at 10pm. The expert can’t get out there until Friday (the 5th).
3. The brake lights on my car are doing this weird thing where one of them isn’t going out. So, I had a dead battery. I needed to replace the battery, but didn’t have the money and had to borrow that.
4. I’ve been staying at friends’ homes while waiting for the a/c expert.
5. All last weekend, I slept about 4-6 hours, broken sleep, not good sleep. Losing sleep is very bad for my mood state.

I feel disconnected from everything, even though I spent most of the day yesterday getting caught up on sleep. I thought I’d feel better after I slept, but I don’t.

I’m doing various things right now to bring in money, and even though there’s a lull right now, things will pick up a bit in August.

But my energy is scattered because I can’t concentrate on any of the things.

I’m trying to turn the blog into a business, and in some ways it’s starting to move. I’ve made a couple hundred dollars each month since I started doing the Tarot readings, a little more each month. My FB page now has just under 150 “likes”. On FB, people respond and we’ve gotten a few good conversations going. Those are good things. When I pay attention to it and post regularly, stuff happens.

I’ve been trying to think of what my next step with this business is.

If I want the blog and business to concentrate on the Tarot and Oracle card readings, the next step would be to start writing up a series of “how to” posts, and then eventually package them as an ebook or an online class.

Except. . . .

I started selling the readings so that I had something to sell, so I could get started right away. And I like doing them, and it’s going well. But I never intended for my blog and/or business to concentrate only on those things.

Whenever I start thinking about writing up training stuff, I just think. . . . There’s already so.fucking.much. out there. There are literally hundreds of books written on the topic, and I don’t know how to even count how many websites doing it.

I guess I feel like it’s not that difficult, like anyone can do it if they want to.

But is that true? Or is it just my mood state making me feel inadequate? After all, I’ve been reading on and off for about 25 years. Maybe there’s something in my head that could help people?

Just pick up a couple/few books and start practicing on people you know. Meditate on a new card every day. Keep a notebook and write up what comes up for you in the meditation. Practice, practice, practice. Make sure you read several books and get different perspectives. Maybe play with a little numerology or look into how the cards correspond with various aspects of the Kabbalah’s Tree of Life. . . .

I think part of me feels that if I start down that road, I won’t be able to change later, but as I write that sentence, I realize that is a silly fear – I’m in charge, I can always change direction or add to it.

So, I’m asking – Would any of my readers be interested in that?

I started writing up how I was learning a new oracle deck on FB in the “notes” section, but that didn’t garner any responses at all.

If you’re NOT interested in that, what would you be interested in?

Instructions on meditating, with things like email reminders to get you to take a few minutes to clear your head? Guided meditations?

More posts on how to get through hard times?

More posts on mental illness?

Feeling better about yourself?

Looking for some ideas here, if you’ve got anything, comment here or on the FB page.

Video Post – Learning to read Oracle Decks

In addition to Tarot, I also read Oracle decks. In this post, I briefly describe the difference between Oracle decks and Tarot and give a brief introduction to how I learn to read a new deck.

In the video, I reference the Wisdom of the Hidden Realms  deck by Colette Baron-Reid. You can find out more about Colette here.

I also mention the Wisdom of the House of Night deck: C started reading the series of books by P.C. and Kristen Cast a few years ago and has been reading them as they’ve been published. This deck is aimed at fans of the series.

This is the card I’m talking about from the new Enchanted Map Oracle Cards.  Baron-Reid’s book The Map: Finding the Magic and Meaning in the Story of Your Life is at that link.

Oracle Card Reading for May 5-May 11

These week I am using Celtic Messages Oracle deck by Joules Taylor. There are several layouts that came with this set that I only use with this deck. There are 52 cards broken down by color into Helpers, Places, Tools and Totems. The cards are round, so all the positive and negative connotations of the cards are in each one.

The center card is supposed to represent my state of mind. 1. The Triskele – The Hero/Goddess Bride is a Helper that brings a message of the unconditional love of a mother. She is also the regenerative force, the sun, fire and fertility. [hmmm?]

The card below and to the right is supposed to be where I am in the situation, “physically or mentally”. 23. The Hillfort with keywords of refuge, safety, security. [I don’t feel very secure at the moment, but I am looking for security.] Ah! “Now is the time to find like-minded people to defend what is important to you.” That makes a bit more sense.

The card above is what I can do to improve the matter. 20. The Hill with keyword perspective. Take a step back and look at the plan as a whole.

The card below and to the left is the result. 36. Torc with keywords wealth, money matters, status. Looks like that can be good or bad. It might mean an unexpected windfall or it might mean an unexpected bill. 😛 Wish I knew which!

I will say that many readings I’ve done in the last month keep indicating that I will be ok financially, but I’m not really sure what form that will take.

I didn’t ask a specific question when I pulled the cards, and I have to admit, I’m not totally sure what this is referring to.

Regeneration, finding others to defend important things, stepping back for perspective, money.

This could be about my business or looking for a job. If so, it’s mostly positive.

Oracle Cards: Week of April 28 – May 4

Since I am now selling Tarot readings, I thought I’d give you guys a peek into some stuff I do for myself.

I will say that a lot of the time I was depressed (so much of the last 10 years), I did not have a consistent spiritual practice, and that includes not using cards for a long time.

But lately, I have been more consistent. I’m reopening myself to the spiritual, being in tune with myself again.

One of the things I like to do is draw cards for myself from time to time. I’d like to say that I do it daily, but that would be a bit disingenuous. I have the intention of doing it daily, but too often I allow other things to get in the way.

I’m working on practicing more with newer, non-Tarot Oracle decks. There are some really wonderful ones out there. Oracle cards are more modern than Tarot. They may or may not use traditional imagery. I’m really drawn to ones that are pretty new. They usually have between 40-60 cards, as opposed to 78 in a Tarot deck. They are not organized the same way as Tarot. Currently, I’m spending a lot of time with Wisdom of the Hidden Realms by Colette Baron-Reid.

I would like to post a weekly reading, so you can see a bit of what I do. I am still learning this deck, so I do use the book a bit, but I then meditate on what the book says and interpret it by what it means to/for me (or a client). If I used Baron-Reid’s words, I will use quotes.

In this book, for most of the cards, if the card is upright, the spiritual character listed is an Ally. If reversed, s/he is a challenger. Some of you that have already gotten a 3 card reading may realize that this is slightly different from how I do a 3-card with Tarot. Different cards, different way to read. 🙂 But there are always different ways to interpret. The thing is to be clear on what you are doing before you draw the cards.

First Card – Present influence

The first card here, representing a present influence, is The Lady of Lightening, as a Challenger.

She warns of unexpected bad news, but also gives hope in the form of a message to wait out the storm.

I think I know what that is about. I don’t feel like sharing that here and now, though.

Second Card – Suggested Action

The Diamond Dreamer as an Ally.
His keywords, seen on the card, are material wealth, and true prosperity.
Considering my most recent post, I like that!
Apparently, he helps create coincidences to help you reach your goals. “If you want a house, you’ll be led to it, if your priority is a new job, with the right continual steps, you will achieve this.”
On Friday night, I found a listing on a temp agency’s website for a “Math Content Editor” that seems to fit a lot of my skill-set. The pay is FABULOUS.
But he reminds me that I have to do some work, too. Today, I need to tweak my resume to fit the requirements and get it actually sent! (This is one of my biggest stumbling blocks). They can’t know I’m perfect for the job if I don’t tell them.

Third Card – Probably outcome (based on 2)

The Cosmos – The keywords here are creativity and vastness.

This card is ALWAYS an Ally, even when reversed.

On the creativity side, “Remember. . .  you’re always co-creating with the Divine.”

It talks about how we are all interconnected and when I do things, they affect others, even if I don’t know how. It’s a message to keep creating and changing things – go forward. But there’s also a message to “be mindful of your thoughts and actions: both are influencing your outer world.”

Overall

It’s all well and good to break down each card like that, but what does it mean that they were drawn together, in this order, on this day? This is where the intuition part comes in.
What I’m getting is that even though I may feel like I’m in a bad place right now (Lady of Lightening), if I keep making an effort towards things I want (both Diamond Dreamer and Cosmos), and I am clear in my intention (Diamond Dreamer), and I allow my creativity to come through (Cosmos), things will start to pull together for me – I will get what I want (both Diamond Dreamer and Cosmos).
